The month of November kept Senior Recruiter, Gordon Obermueller Lt. Col (Ret.) on the road, sharing AGI SureTrack career opportunities with the men and women of our military branches.

Visiting with several transition programs throughout the month, Gordon is working to build and strengthen the relationships and communication between the branches of service and the AGI SureTrack We Hire Heroes program.

As a kick-off partnership event, a veteran appreciation dinner was held on November 14th at the historic Agriculture Hall of Fame and Education Center. Nearly 100 veterans attended the dinner to learn more about AGI SureTrack and the career opportunities available.

The evening also facilitated the connection between the recruitment program and the Farmer Veteran Coalition of Kansas. The two groups came together, with the National Ag Hall of Fame and Education Center, to provide the event and begin a working partnership moving forward.

Following the event, Gordon traveled to Austin, TX to participate in the 5th annual Farmer Veteran Coalition Conference, an event that brings veteran farmer members together to share ideas, opportunities and fellowship.

“The conference was attended by farmer-veterans from 23-70 years old, who farmed anywhere from 10 acres to 7000 acres, a true representation of agriculture, today. I had the opportunity to talk to a range of different skillsets: from potential BinManager® installers to a gentleman who had vast experience with the U.S. Patent Office,” Gordon said, “Even though I only learned about it a week before from the Kansas Farmer Veteran chapter, it is an event that will be on my calendar every year going forward.”

Today, the Farmer Veteran Coalition is supported by more than 250 organizations and boasts 18,000 members from all 50 states. The Coalition helps to provide the support, resources, education and opportunities veterans need to return to agriculture, and believes that by upholding this mission, both rural communities and quality-of-life for participating farmer-veterans will be improved.

Gordon agrees and is excited to see the continued development of both the We Hire Heroes program and Farmer Veteran Coalition programming.

“We hope to continue to grow the We Hire Heroes program,” Gordon says, “and as a Marine, it means a lot to be able to give something back to the veteran community. There are so many great skillsets employed in the military that translate to what we do every day in helping farmers at AGI SureTrack.”

As Gordon’s travels continue, stay tuned for more partnership news and AGI SureTrack recruitment events.
